SASSYBLACK AND FRIENDS CELEBRATE 10 YEARS WITH THE GODDESS OF HOLOGRAM FUNK

SassyBlack has been breaking the status quo and creating new art forms all her life, and on August 8th, 2024, she celebrated 10 years of accomplishments with family and friends at the Crocodile Cafe in Seattle.

“I’d been manifesting a hologram version of my art for many years” says SassyBlack, “I can’t wait for my fans and collectors to experience this in their own homes and spaces, and to see what they do with this new technology.”

“Wild” was captured using volumetric video technology at the Forma Vision studio in Seattle on March 22nd, 2022. SassyBlack was surrounded by fifty-one cameras to create a photorealistic hologram. Audio was captured by Grammy-nominated creative Phillip Peterson in one live take.

At the anniversary event, Popins hosted a photo booth where anyone could stand next to Sassy as a hologram and get a picture or video taken, even while she was actually on stage!

Popins Live is the only holographic 3D streaming that brings artists in to two way conversation, and Sassy was among the first artists in the world to hold a live concert also at the Crocodile last year.

SassyBlack (Catherine Harris-White) is a multifaceted creative force with a focus in the performing and literary arts. Hailing from Seattle, this Goddess of “psychedelic soul” & “hologram funk” explores sound through deep electronic compositions.

A graduate of Cornish College of the Arts, Catherine has fostered a thriving solo career, writing, composing, and producing all her music with over fifteen projects released since 2014. In addition to her own compositions, she has composed music for Microsoft, WNYC, University of Washington, 5th Ave Theatre (15 Minute Stories) and the film Seattle Women Black Panthers: Keepers of the Dream.

This goddess of “Electronic Psychedelic Soul” and “Hologram Funk” explores the concepts of sound through deep compositions. With roots in classical and jazz, her vocal stylings are often compared to Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Erykah Badu and Georgia Anne Muldrow.
